Six strange things

My friend Adrienne tagged me on this meme, and having never been tagged, nor done a meme blog post, I feel rather obligated to comply. Here goes:

1. I am obsessive about finding the "closest" parking space. If you weren't me, but perhaps along for the ride (and not one of my children who probably think what I do is perfectly normal), you might notice that that by the time I finally arrive at my perfect spot, I most likely could have run my errand and returned to the car. (But hey, at least when I return, my car is so much closer!) My husband saw my brother doing this once, and decided it was probably a genetic defect. Mom?

2. I'm not ticklish.

3. At times, I find myself providing way too much awkward information in conversation, then catch myself and feel ridiculous.

On our honeymoon, the outdoor restaurant where we dined on our first night provided sweaters to guests when it got breezy. I was touched by the gesture and commented on it to the hostess who suggested multiple ways in which the guests were a priority, to which I responded with enthusiasm, "That's great. We're here all week!" We never made it back.

Recently before a massage, I was asked if I had any injuries or sensitive areas the therapist might avoid in order to make my experience more pleasant. Asked if I was ticklish (see #2 above), I said, "No, and it really bugs my husband, too." As if they needed this little tidbit.

I became overly helpful to a server at a restaurant, suggesting how he might wrap our food to make it more convenient for takeout, and just today, managed to tell some friends that they are probably too short to notice or be affected by the odd placement of my kitchen cabinets.

I swear when I say these things my husband is biting his tongue to stop laughing. At me. I wish I could stop myself, but this quirky awkwardness must add to my charm. I hope. Otherwise, I'm just an embarrassing ass sometimes.

4. I organize my closet by color, but just my shirts. My pants are sorted by style - dress, capri, jeans/casual, sweats.

5. My ears are double-pierced, but not like you'd think. I had them done when I was 5, then my earlobes grew, necessitating their re-piercing when I was 7. I can still put earrings in the first set of holes, and sometimes do by mistake.

6. I used to be chronically early and always remembered the names of everyone I met until I realized over time that most people are not prompt nor do they remember my name, so I let myself off the hook. Though I struggle to be on time, I almost always remember faces of people I've met only once.

CORRECTION: What I meant to say was that I'm tagging Liz who linked my blog pretty much from the second I told her that I started blogging, inspired by the start of her baby blog, as well as Heidi who recently added me as a link on her blog.

If want to add your own list of quirks and oddities, please feel free to do so in my comments.

Here are the rules - Each player of this game starts with the "6 Strange Things about You." People who get tagged need to write a blog entry of their own 6 weird things as well as state this rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose 6 people to be tagged and list their names. Don't forget to leave a comment that says 'you are tagged' in their comments and tell them to read your blog!

You are the exact opposite of my hubby, who must park as far away from a location as possible, so as to ensure no one parks next to his precious car. Very annoying.

And no. 3 made me giggle. I've never noticed, probably because I share the trait (there's that lack of self-awareness again).

Okay, I'm hurt...I put you as a link on Eva's blog and I don't get tagged, but Heidi does?! Just kidding...but really, it would be nice to be "formally" tagged...(snicker, snicker).
